The College of St. Mary Magdalen (formerly known as Magdalen College) has moved to join forces with the recently established
Erasmus Institute of Liberal Arts, which was co-founded by Peter
Sampo, who, many years ago founded Magdalen, then went on the found the
other small Catholic liberal arts college (
SCLAC, as my kids call them) in New Hampshire,
The Thomas More College of the Liberal Arts. Among other things, this will give Magdalen a Rome Semester, three majors (philosophy, political science, and literature), and the
Cowen program--a core sequence that involves all the students in the program in a common humanities sequence. That means freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors together studying common texts.
